Listen to Franz Ferdinand on iHeartRadio

Scottish indie rockers Franz Ferdinand are set to release their fourth album next week, but it turns out they almost never made it past their third.  Frontman Alex Kapranos tells "The Observer" he considered breaking up the band after they finished touring behind 2009's Tonight

At that point, Kapranos says Franz Ferdinand was starting to feel like "one of those jobs," adding that he didn't like "the routine and the obligations."  But after taking some time off, Kapranos says he's excited about the band's new album, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action

He says they've embraced the "oddness" that surrounds them, realizing that "it should be at the heart of [their] existence if [they] want to continue."  Franz Ferdinand's Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action is scheduled to hit stores next Tuesday.
