"My Best Friend Chester" from Listener Jacob

via Listener Angelica Meza, 'My son sent me an email that he sent Theresa. This is the most meaningful thing that I have ever heard in my entire life and it came from my son. I am proud yet saddened at the same time. I know someone's passing is never a good thing. But if it wasn't for this happeneing I don't know if my son would have ever opened up to me like he did. Thank You Chester for many reasons and for everything you have brought to my family. Here's a copy of his email.'

Jacob Meza emailed me this letter and I was so moved, I asked if I could publish it. This is something many music fans can connect with ...

My Best Friend Chester

Hey everyone, how are you all holding up? Did you lose your best friend yesterday too? I know how hard it must be, I wish it wasn't so. It doesn't feel like it's really happening right, I could have sworn I just heard his voice a moment ago, he was screaming and singing his heart out. He was listening to my thoughts and I was listening to his. However, if enough people come out and repeat the same news to you can't help but feel like it was an unexpected goodbye from a good friend.

He was my first true friend. I would go to him when I felt happy, angry, sad, and even misunderstood. I had someone that could touch on the every day matters of my life "with all your secrets and regrets" (In Pieces - Minutes to Midnight.) Thanks for being there man.

My entire being as a person was started out with my mom liking Linkin Park. I could not love her enough more than life it self if not for her taste in music. One of the earliest memories I ever had was listening to Linkin Park in the back seat of my mom's car. In the front I could hear a man speaking about being "One Step Closer" I could not comprehend what that meant because I was only 4 years old in 2000, but little did I know that my life and how I would live would be shaped by this mysterious man's voice.

Farewell Chester. You are my biggest influence to date, you are tremendous reason for my passion in alternative rock, and you are my greatest role model. I could not possibly express it more than enough than to keep listening to one of your biggest legacies. Now and forever your words will echo in my heart.

"No matter how far we've come, I

I can't wait to see tomorrow, with you".

- With You: Meteora

Rest in peace friend. I know you will hear our thoughts, love and prayers.
