On November 25, 1984 some of the biggest musical artists in the UK came together to record a song to help raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia. "Do They Know It's Christmas" was released as a single on this day in 1984 and quickly became the best selling single in UK history.
Boomtown Rats lead singer Bob Geldof took on the monumental task of putting together this super-group in a short amount of time. The song by, "Band Aid," went on to become the number one song in 14 countries and inspired many future charitable recordings.
