A guy in Florida jumped a 20-foot canal in his Nissan Versa Wednesday night, "Dukes of Hazzard" style.
He wrecked the car, so he took off on foot.
But he also broke his back, and eventually got busted for hit and run and a DUI.
A man in Lehigh Acres used his Nissan Versa to completely clear a canal. It all happened Wednesday night, leaving a path of destruction, still visible on both sides of 21st Street Southwest on Friday.
“You ever seen a truck hit another truck on I-75? Kaboom,” said Gerald, a neighbor and witness. “He was driving full speed, came across the canal, he landed right here on the bank as you can see. He hit this, hit the truck right here, he got out and started running. I went inside, I was scared.”
Neighbors provided a clip of the aftermath, where you can see the Nissan Versa, crumpled in the middle of the street, from across the canal. Deputies said the driver, 35-year-old Robert Foley, wore his seatbelt for the jump, but his car wasn't the only thing he broke. He also reportedly broke his back.
